Kariba Circular
This 15.9 km loop winds through some of the Outeniqua foothills’ quietest corners. The route eases you in with broad forest service roads and jeep track: wide, mellow paths where you can pedal or stride without having to play trail-Tetris with rocks and roots. Alternatively, you can also take the contour road along the water’s edge.
At the heart of this loop is the Kariba section north-west of the dam. Recently cleared and revived by the Hillbillies MTB Club (legendary local trail fairies who deserve a medal, a parade, and possibly lifetime access to a bottomless coffee bar), this stretch feels like someone uncovered a previously lost piece of the mountain.
The section is bi-directional.
Then the loop gently sweeps you back toward civilisation towards the Katrivier Nature Reserve and the entrance in Dikkop street.
Just a beautiful loop in a beautiful forest, ready whenever you are.
