This one-way route can be done in either direction, from the TV antennae at the top of the Outeniqua Pass, or from the top of the Montagu Pass. If you are not planning to turn back and walk/run to the start again, arrange for pick-up at the other end. This hike is submerged between mountain peaks and valleys and offer spectacular views whilst creating a feeling of complete solitude whilst one is actually pretty close to civilization.
Weather changes quickly in the mountains so plan your hike carefully, always take warm and wind resistant clothing along, even if the forecast is sunny. Hiking sticks/trekking poles are often welcome companions on the steep decent down.
Permits: Self-issue permits are free and can be obtained from the foyer of the office by the start of the trails. Alternatively an permit will be issued by Cape Nature at the main gate during office hours. Please adhere to the rules of the reserve at all times and respect others and nature.
